My Skincare Routine- 2018

Happy New Year! I hope you remembered to wash your face last night in your drunken state of mind. I believe in you. Today I am showing you guys all of my favorite skincare products that got me through 2017 and I’ll continue using in 2018!

A few years ago is when I REALLY got into loving all things makeup. I did not understand the hype with skincare and why anyone in their right mind would spend $30 on a face cleanser. Then, my skin started to show signs of aging at 21! WHAT. (Let’s ignore the fact that I only used makeup wipes in high school and no other products). I’ll start by saying that it is WAY easier to prevent aging than it is to reverse it. So it’s never too early to start taking care of your skin!

For the record… I have sensitive, combination skin with random eczema flare ups. So sometimes I can have dry flaky patches with normal skin on the cheeks and an oily ass nose. AwEsOmE.

These are my favorite two makeup removers. I will never buy anything else. They are affordable, oil free, alcohol free, fragrance free and it WORKS. I use the waterproof for my eye makeup. I usually take two cotton rounds, soak them and press them on my eyes for about 15 seconds before it all just wipes away effortlessly. For the rest of my face, I usually just take one cotton round with the sensitive formula and wipe away the remainder of my face makeup!

I recently received a Zoe from QYKSONIC to try out and GUYS… I am obsessed. Their website states it is “the first and only 3-in-1 anti-aging Sonic Beauty Device that effectively Cleanses, Massages, and Applies your skincare products.” My skin feels SO much smoother and looks plumper than ever before! It is easy to use and I love that I don’t have to purchase new $30 brush heads every few months like my old Clarisonic! I hope to have you guys a discount code soon so stay tuned!

So I use two cleansers because I’m that extra. I use the Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser for my heavier makeup days. It literally melts away everything on your face. It is a miracle worker. I also double cleanse, meaning I wash my face twice. This has been such  game changer for my skin! You would be surprised what you DON’T get off with just washing once. I follow it up with the First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser  which is so gentle! I also use just this one in the morning when I wake up! It is great for sensitive skin and doesn’t dry me out like most cleansers!

Okay so I guess technically this isn’t a toner but it restores so much moisture that I just stripped away by cleansing. They have 3 different scents available but this one if my favorite! It is so refreshing! Did I mention that it is AFFORDABLE?!

If you’re looking for a nourishing, all natural, hydrating, and restoring serum/oil LOOK NO FURTHER. I swear by this stuff. Jaclyn Hill introduced it to me about 2 years ago and I haven’t looked back since! It plumps my skin and hydrates SO well with only 3-4 drops! It is handmade by a sweet lady in Colorado who makes all of them to order! Here is what her site says about it:  “There are so many benefits to applying precious oils directly to the skin: wrinkle reduction, anti-inflamatory, antibacterial, moisturizing, nourishing, fights free-radicals, etc. What makes The Miracle Beauty Oil & Serum so special is how it was formulated and how many oils you are getting in this bottle. We spent months researching and trying out the top beauty/face oils that range of prices from $45-$175.  We took a look at each oil used in these formulas and researched their benefits. We then mixed together what we thought to be the best oils, packing in a massive amount of 14 different oils. Most beauty/face oils only have about 1-5 oils with a couple carrier oils. So really there is no reason to waste your money on any other beauty/face oil, as this one will give you what you want and then some.
There are several ways you can use this oil: mix it with your body lotion and butters to add extra benefits, run a few drops through your hair, use it on your cuticles, and the most common is use it at night as a serum and/or night time moisturizer.  You can also use it alone as a serum and top it off with your favorite night time moisturizer or use it over your favorite serum.

The oils I use are organic and cold pressed.  Some have a slight odor, so I use a 100% pure therapeutic grade lavender oil to offset the displeasing smell.   Due to this there is a slight floral scent that does not linger long at all; I personally find it very pleasant. Lavender oil also helps to balance the skin’s natural sebum levels and is antibacterial, so it is great for oily, dry, and acne prone skin.”

Absolute miracle worker and I will never not have this in my routine! She also sells boosters to add to the oil for certain targeted problem areas (brightening/anti-aging/hydration) and I can’t wait to try those!

Yes, I have 3 moisturizers. Why am I like this?! So I find the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream is WONDERFUL for any signs of aging and dehydration. Helps with fine lines and makes my skin so smooth and soft! The First Aid Beauty Ultimate Repair Cream SAVES my skin during the harsh winter months! It is a staple for anyone with dry skin, sensitive skin, rosacea or eczema! And my Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion is what I apply in the morning. The smallest amount goes a long way and lays beautifully under makeup! Can’t beat that price tag either!

I know… $37 for an eye cream is stupid. But y’all I bought this stuff over a year ago and I’m just now running out! A tiny bit goes a long way and it is AMAZING. It’s drastically reduced the size of my bags and dark circles.

These are the masks I rotate between about once a week! They are my tried and true! I LOVE Origins products and their face masks are comparable to none! The Original Skin Rose Clay mask has completely changed my skin and made it so much smoother! If you have rough, texturized skin… BUY THIS ALREADY. My second favorite would have to be the Drink Up-Intensive Overnight Mask. I put this on after I’ve done my nighttime skincare routine and wake up with the best skin ever. This is my go-to for winter months! Then last, but not least is the Clear Improvement charcoal mask. I add this to spot treat and especially to my nose! Helps clear pores and keep oil at bay! Best charcoal mask on the market in my opinion!

So guys I think that wraps up my skincare products and routine! I hope you enjoyed this post and keep your eyes open for more of my fave beauty products coming up!

Summer style guide

I planned our wedding from start to finish with NO help. None. Zero. Nothing.

Obviously I got opinions on things from friends and family, but I didn’t have anyone sit down and help me determine how many napkins are needed for a cocktail style reception! (too many)

Nobody said DIY was fun or easy. I lost a questionably high amount of brain cells from the multiple cans of spray paint used. But man was it SO worth it.

We spent our money where it mattered (to us, totally subjective) and cut costs where we could. There are MULTIPLE things we did (DIY and not) so if you want to know more, keep on reading!

How To DIY No-Sew Drop Cloth Curtains

After multiple messages asking where I bought my curtains, I decided to share my secret with you guys. They’re really not even curtains so get you some popcorn because this one is going to be lengthy.

Instagram saw it first. Click the photo to follow along with me there!

I have always wanted linen curtains. They add such a nice texture to the walls while filtering light beautifully. It’s a strong fiber that is extremely durable and softens with age. I fell in love with some from Pottery Barn, then fell out of love just as fast.

Instagram Shenanigans

We get so wrapped up in making our social media appear so much more appealing than what our actual lives are. GUILTY. For any home decor account, you must seem to have your life together. Spoiler alert: nobody does. In pictures… everyone’s home is spotless, pillows fluffed, and not one speck of dirt on the floor. Oh and for whatever reason, GOD FORBID WE PHOTOGRAPH THE TELEVISION, DIRTY DISHES, OR TOILET BECAUSE THERE MUST BE NO SIGN OF LIVING IN OUR PHOTOS!
